Green Shopping

AppleOur daily habits are contributing to environmental degradation. Modern society promotes consumerism and waste, we are the  “throwaway” generation and the trash we put into the container does not disappear. It is therefore necessary to change the way we live and, more specifically, our consumption or buying patterns.

Responsible buying practices assess the options available to us.
If we reduce, reuse, recycle and consume local products, or products that come from organic farming  we are on track to leave a cleaner planet for future generations.

Some tips to implement

•    Avoid buying products with dual or triple packaging. Choose products that come with little packaging, or shop at local shops such as the butchers, the fishmongers, the bakers and so on. That way you can reduce waste production and energy consumption.

Reduce consumption of disposable products:

Normal household products packaged in small quantities produce a greater waste than those packaged in large quantities.
•    Purchase in larger sizes. For example, a 1.5 liter bottle requires less energy to manufacture and generates less waste than three bottles of 0.5 l.
•    Reduce use of plastic bags for purchase. The plastic bags you use just a few minutes remain for 15 to 1000 years in the environment. Do not ask for a new plastic bag every time you buy something. Take a reusable bag  and say “no thanks” to plastic bags or paper.
•    Choose natural packaged products. Packages of paper or cardboard are preferable to plastic because it can be recycled. For the same reason glass bottles are much better than plastic, especially if they are returnable.
•    Avoid products that have travelled long distances before reaching the consumer, the greater the distance, the increased emission of pollutants due to both transport and quantity of containers that are necessary to preserve the products.
