Transport
When we see motorways collapsed at peak times and read that car sales have increased and everyday pollution and noise pollution are on the increase we start to ask ourselves some questions.
Will any limits be set on how many and what type of cars are available to the public?
Are there possibilities to create cities that do not rely on cars?
Is it down to local administration or the car manufacturers themselves to solve the issue of car pollution in our cities?
What as individuals can we do?
Using bicycles, the metro system, tram and rail for our commuting or leisure or walking around town is much healthier for oneself and much more environmentally friendly. If we could walk between 2 or 3 miles a day your body will feel much better for it and you are doing your part to help reduce environmental pollution.
Use services like carsharing or carpooling (shared car travel with coworkers or friends) as alternatives.
If you live outside the city and need to make a journey use the train or bus, leaving your car parked near the station or bus stop. If car use in a trip is indispensable then take some simple driving tips.
Drive in a relaxed manner, driving aggressively increases fuel consumption. Air conditioning may increase up to 12% fuel use within a vehicle. if the car is going to be stationary for more than a minute it pollutes a lot less if you turn the motor off .
