Water

Faucets
One of the main objections for companies to replace the facets or taps of their building is that they are only renting or leasing the premises. One of the things to consider to this argument is that it is normally the company itself paying the water bill or the cost of heating the water. Low Flow Faucets or Taps can dramatically reduce the amount of the water used to say wash their hands through new technology such as aerators. These type of faucets will maintain the pressure so the user is unaware they are actually using less water than say a conventional tap. For a company to install intelligent Low Flow appliances the savings can be tremendous. There are also types of faucets available in the market (see picture) that have small LED lights introduced so that you can see through color the amount of hot water you are using.
Toilets
Low Flow technology also exists in Toilets. A Low Flow Toilet can make savings on the water bill as these Toilets offer less gallons per flush. Most Toilets should also have a duel flush option. Most new buildings in Spain have this option incorporated which allows the user to choose between a light or full flush. If your Toilet does not have this option as it is old or works by a chain then you should consider the math. Gestor Energetico and The Energy Debate Team are delighted to show our clients how a Faucet and Toilet replacement scheme can quickly make a lot of savings in your heating and water bills as well as making your working environment a little bit greener.
Drinking Water
It is common place in most companies now to see bottled water facilities, usually it is a machine where you place, large heavy bottles of water onto the top of the machine. These bottles use a lot of plastic and in many cases are quite expensive as companies pay over the odds to receive the water in large size bottles. The best is to stop using this system and start using a water filtering system. This will give you water at much less of a cost and the water itself will be of a better quality.
Others
You may also consider incorporating a Greywater system in your building. This will give you a chance to filter and reuse some of the water that normally would disappear down the sink. Also many offices have a small lawn or green area where an automatic sprinkler system is used. More often than not, the sprinklers are badly set and there is often a large wastage of water or certain areas are often over watered. Only use sprinklers if they are really absolutely necessary and there is no other alternative. Also check your sprinkler system for leaks and do not use it if there is rain forecast for that day.
